Maurice Sendak (June 10th 1928 - May 8th 2012) has died at 83; author of Where The Wild Things Are. This was just reported online via the New York Times. RIP.

The Studio Celebrates World Book Night! #WBNAmerica
Yesterday, April 23rd was World Book Night. World Book Night is an annual celebration designed to spread a love of reading and books. This year was the first year World Book Night took place in America (previously in 2011 it was held in the UK and Ireland). This World Book Night saw tens of thousands of people go out into their communities to spread the joy and love of reading by giving out free World Book Night paperbacks.
As participants in World Book Night, The Studio gave away sixty copies of three different books to students here at Illinois Central College. It was more like World Book “Day” for us, seeing as we gave out our books at lunchtime in the cafeteria.
The books we selected were The Things They Carried, by Tim O’Brien,
The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie,
and The Namesake, by Jhumpa ALahiri.
The student consultants did have a little help handing out books from the “ReadBot”.
